Ray Parlour has claimed that Oleksandr Zinchenko would be a ‘fantastic signing’ for Arsenal, as he told Sky Sports

The Highbury legend added that Gabriel Jesus could possibly put in a good word to the Manchester City defender about how great it is at Arsenal.

If this rumoured £30 million Zinchenko deal goes through, then it will be upward of £75 million Arsenal are paying to Manchester City, if you also include the £45 million they paid for Jesus.

It’s only pre-season, but the first few games and the opening week have gone pretty well for Jesus and there’s no doubt he would have been putting in some positive words to Zinchenko.

Well, Parlour, who was part of the club’s away kit launch in Orlando on Monday, is pretty excited at the prospect of Zinchenko arriving at the club.

“Well, hopefully, Jesus can say ‘I don’t mind it here. It’s quite nice. Do you fancy coming and living in London for a while’,” said Parlour.

“That would be a great signing as well. We need a bit of cover on that left-hand side. Zinchenko, he can play different positions as well, so that would be a fantastic signing if they can get him over the line.”

STATEMENT OF INTENT FROM ARSENAL

It needs to be remembered that Arsenal aren’t in the Champions League, yet they have managed to persuade two players to drop from that level into the Europa League.

That just goes to show that the Gunners still have that pull, but the size of the club isn’t going to meet the expectations of the fans ahead of the new Premier League campaign.

Last season, Arteta took a number of hefty blows, especially early on in the season and then right towards the end as they were pipped to fourth by Tottenham.

Take those hits again, then it’s goodbye Arteta, but signings such as Zinchenko and Jesus are being brought in to push them over that line.
