Paul Merson has written in SportsKeeda that Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United should sign James Maddison from Leicester City in the summer transfer window.
The former Arsenal star has said that he is a big fan of Maddison, and that Newcastle should sign the England international playmaker.
Merson believes that Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) sold get a deal done for the 26-year-old.
Newcastle could end up in the top four of the Premier League table this season, while Leicester are in real danger of getting relegated to the Championship at the end of the season.
Paul Merson tells Newcastle United to sign Leicester City’s James Maddison
Merson wrote: “Maddison is is a top-quality player who I’m a huge fan of – I think he’d be a fantastic signing for Newcastle.”

HITC Verdict: Potentially exciting signing
In our view, James Maddison would be a brilliant signing for Newcastle United in the summer transfer window.
The 26-year-old is one of the best and most creative players in the Premier League.
And we believe that he would make Eddie Howe’s side better.
Leicester are unlikely to challenge for the UEFA Champions League places anytime soon, while Newcastle are a club on the way up.
A move to the Magpies could be hugely appealing to Maddison, who has scored nine goals and given six assists in 19 Premier League starts for Leicester so far this season.
