Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has singled out Kristoffer Ajer for a little bit of praise.
Gerrard’s side beat Celtic 2-0 at Parkhead on Saturday to move four points clear of the Hoops, who have played one game less.
But Rangers could and would have scored a third in the second half if not for Ajer.
The big Celtic defender, who stands at 6’5, instinctively stuck out a leg to block Ryan Kent’s volley, diverting it wide.
And Gerrard has told The Scottish Sun that it was a ‘fantastic’ intervention by the big Norwegian.
He said: “We could have maybe gone and scored more, Ryan Kent’s volley when he is through at the end and Ajer makes a fantastic tackle.”
It was a truly dismal performance by Celtic overall.
Despite being the home team – and the reigning Premiership champions – Neil Lennon’s side failed to muster a single shot on target.
If you’re a Celtic fan then it must be worrying because you never got the impression that Rangers were even in top gear.
Ajer might’ve won some praise from Gerrard, but he has to be much better and much more consistent because overall this season, he hasn’t been brilliant.
