Micah Richards has labelled Arsenal transfer target Jonathan David as a ‘fantastic player’ for Lille and Canada, as he told Match of the Day.
The 22-year-old is competing in his first-ever World Cup in Qatar, with Canada already knocked out after losing their opening two matches.
With 22 goals from 37 games on the international stage, David is looking to add to that tally in Doha and score on football’s biggest stage.

But whilst he has been at the heart of the action, including missing a number of guilt edges chances against Belgium, he is still searching for luck and goal, but former Manchester City star Micah Richards likes what he sees.
“Jonathan David is one we should keep an eye on,” said Richards. “He’s a fantastic player. I watched him for Lille in the Champions League last season.”

ARSENAL’S INTEREST IN DAVID
A player who likes to play on the shoulder, David would thrive in Mikel Arteta’s system at Arsenal because they would feed him balls for fun.
Arsenal are showing interest in the Lille striker who has nine goals in Ligue 1 this season, does Mikel Arteta need depth ahead of a title push?
Perhaps the most important area that needs to be filled is the Thomas Partey role, if he gets injured, then there isn’t any real cover.
But could the same be said with Gabriel Jesus? There is Eddie Nketiah, but it could be argued that David is a level above the player.
