Brighton and Hove Albion manager Roberto De Zerbi has admitted that Alexis Mac Allister could leave amid claims that Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool and Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United are interested in him.
The Athletic have reported that Liverpool and Manchester United want to sign Alexis Mac Allister from Premier League rivals Brighton and Hove Albion in the summer transfer window.
Mac Allister was in action for the Seagulls in their final Premier League game of the season against Aston Villa on Sunday.
And Brighton manager De Zerbi has admitted that Mac Allister as well as his Seagulls teammate Moises Caicedo could leave.
De Zerbi told The Athletic: “Yes, I think it can be the last game for Alexis and Moises Caicedo. I am really sorry because they are two great people and two great players but the policy of Brighton is like this. It is right that they can leave, they can play at a higher level.”
The Brighton boss added: “People believe Alexis is a fantastic player, but as a man he is better than the player. I’m really sorry if we lose him, if we lose Moises Caicedo, but players like this deserve to play at another level, another level in terms of competition, in terms of importance of the club, prestige of the club.”

Alexis Mac Allister boost for Liverpool and Manchester United
That Brighton and Hove Albion manager Roberto De Zerbi has publicly said that Alexis Mac Allister could leave is hugely encouraging for Liverpool and Manchester United.
It shows that internally Brighton are prepared to sell the Argentina international midfielder, who won the 2022 Qatar World Cup.
Now, of course, the Seagulls will want a hefty transfer fee for the 24-year-old, but if Liverpool and United are really keen on him, then they will pay it.
The Mirror reported earlier this month that despite interest from Arsenal and United, Mac Allister wants to move to Liverpool.
That, though, does not mean that a transfer to Anfield will happen.
After all, United will play in the UEFA Champions League next season and will challenge for the Premier League title.
The chance to join Erik ten Hag’s side and become part of something special would be appealing to the 24-year-old.
