Nuno Espirito Santo was left to rue a ‘fantastic’ Kasper Schmeichel save after Wolverhampton Wanderers were denied a hard-earned victory against Leicester City, while speaking to the club’s official website.

For top-level shot-stoppers, concentration is perhaps the most important attribute of all.

And just a few hours before Alisson Becker froze on the frost-flecked Anfield turf, Leicester’s number one shrugged off the Baltic conditions and burst into life to rescue a point away at Molineux.

With around 70 minutes on the clock, Schmeichel sprung off his goal-line like a hungry leopard, sprawling in front of Fabio Silva to deflect the striker’s goal-bound effort around the post.

It was his only save of the entire game.

But, when Leicester needed a hero, Schmeichel stepped up in fine style, displaying the anticipation and reflexes that have made him one of the Premier League’s elite net-guarders.

“We had good chances. In the end, clear ones,” said a disappointed Nuno, whose Wolves side dominated for large spells and created the best opportunities throughout.

“Fabio has to do better. A great save, a fantastic save, but he has to do better.”

Silva, Wolves’ £35 million record signing, has scored just once from open play in 17 Premier League appearances.

But price-tags can be deceiving. The former Porto starlet is just 18 and, if Wolves had not paid such a stunning fee to secure his signature, the weight of expectation on Silva’s shoulders would be much lighter.

Then again, any centre-forward would be expected to put away a simple one-on-one from just a few yards out; especially £35 million ones.

“He will score these kinds of situations in the future because this is his talent and this is what he’s good at. He’s young, he’s very talented, but that moment requires a better finish,” Nuno added.

“He’s very good at many aspects of the game, but this clinical touch, he must improve it, and we will work on that.”
