The Tottenham Hotspur stopper has been called up for Argentina’s friendlies with Mexico.

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino spoke to reporters about Paulo Gazzaniga’s call-up to the Argentina national team squad, and admitted that he is really happy for his fellow countryman, labelling him as a ‘fantastic goalkeeper’, as quoted by the club’s official website.
The 26-year-old joined Spurs form Southampton in the summer of 2017, but he has played second fiddle to Hugo Lloris, making just six appearances in all competitions thus far.
Gazzaniga has impressed when he has played for Tottenham, however, and he has been rewarded with a call-up to the Argentina squad for their friendly games with Mexico.
Pochettino spoke to reporters about the goalkeeper’s call-up, and admitted that he is so happy for him, suggesting that he is an excellent goalkeeper, as quoted by the club’s official website:

“I’m so happy for Paulo. He’s a fantastic goalkeeper and he’s showing his quality and why we signed him. And then he’s from my town, Murphy, I know him as a kid, his dad, his uncle, his grandfather and he’s a very good family friend. He’s an excellent goalkeeper.”
The problem for Gazzaniga is that he is unlikely to usurp Lloris as Tottenham’s number one, so any chance that he does get to prove his worth, he absolutely must not disappoint.
