One Arsenal target has admitted that he wants to improve in two positions this summer.

Arsenal are understood to be in the market for a new left-sided defender as the club are ready to listen to offers for all four of their options.

Oleksandr Zinchenko, Kieran Tierney, Jakob Kiwior and Nino Tavares can all play at left-back for the Gunners but HITC understands that Arsenal are ready to listen to offers for all four of these players.

There is a belief that Takehiro Tomiyasu and one new signing, which could well be Bologna’s Riccardo Calafiori, would be enough in that role.

Arsenal target wants to improve in new position

However, despite the Gunners understood to be closing in on an agreement to sign the Bologna defender Calafiori from under the noses of Juventus, they have shown previous interest in another defender.

Ajax defender Jorrel Hato has had an outstanding 12 months for the Dutch side as the teenage defender has broken through and looks set to be the next cab off the ranks for the Dutch giants.

Ajax midfielder Jordan Henderson labelled the defender as ‘fantastic’ back in February.

HITC has previously reported that, alongside Manchester United, Arsenal are interested in the centre-back and Hato has revealed he is hoping to improve in a new position.

“I am used in both positions. I am by nature able to play there But I think I can certainly improve from that,” Hato told FC Update.

“You can also see from the goal I make… If I’m in those positions, I can do that much more often. With the game we play, I can bring a lot of threat in front. In terms of intensity, it has to go up.”

Hato may well have missed the Arsenal boat

Whilst the Dutchman goes on to say that he is excited to play under new manager Francesco Farioli, a move to Arsenal looked like a possibility.

Indeed, sources told HITC a few months ago that the Dutchman was keen on a move to the Emirates Stadium to play under Mikel Arteta.

However, with Arsenal seemingly turning their attentions to the Italian defender Calafiori, who shone at Euro 2024, Hato may well have missed his chance to move to the Premier League.
