Antonio Conte has told Tottenham Hotspur’s official website that he already considers Harry Kane a ‘world-class’ striker and he is delighted with the England captain’s work-rate.
Top level Kane
Kane may still be looking for his first Premier League goal under Tottenham’s new boss.
However, he was a real threat against Leeds United, particularly in the second half.
Kane linked the play well and almost opened his goalscoring account under Conte, only for his shot to hit the post.
His display in Spurs’s 2-1 win over Leeds still pleased his new manager, though.
Conte was delighted with how much running Kane put in, with the performances of Lucas Moura and Heung-Min Son also earning them credit at full-time.
“Harry Kane, I think a world-class striker like him. To see the way he worked for the team it’s fantastic. It’s a pleasure. Sonny, Lucas Moura – they run loads [too].”

Hard at work
Tottenham’s work-rate actually saw them run further than Leeds United.
That is quite an achievement for a side who were averaging the lowest running distance in the league before Conte took charge.
In a short amount of time, Conte has clearly increased the intensity of Tottenham’s play – and it paid off in the second half yesterday.
Spurs were slow out of the blocks against Leeds and were deservedly behind at the break.
But they fought back to claim three points with an excellent second half display.
Goals from Pierre Emile Hojbjerg and Sergio Reguilon earned Tottenham the three points, as they pushed to within four points of the top four.
