Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to react after it was revealed that Crystal Palace are closing in on the £8 million signing of Michael Olise.
What’s the story?
Well, The Athletic are claiming that Patrick Vieira is all set to make the 19-year-old his first signing since replacing Roy Hodgson.
The south Londoners have activated Olise’s £8 million release clause after trying to sign him in January too.
Now, it seems that the Arsenal fans are a bit jealous of this deal.
Their feelings aren’t entirely reactionary. The Daily Mail revealed that Arsenal were interested in Olise back in October.
However, a move to the Emirates Stadium never materialised, before the Frenchman spent the 2020/21 campaign with Reading.
In 44 Championship appearances, the teenager scored seven goals and provided 12 assists.
Why aren’t Arsenal involved?
The Arsenal fans below have every right to be annoyed.
After watching Ebere Eze move to SE25 for an affordable fee last summer, you would’ve thought Mikel Arteta had learned his lesson.
There are some incredible players in the Championship just waiting to be signed by Premier League clubs.
Yes, Arteta might want to save his money for other positions. However, for £8 million, he has no reason not to sign Olise.
Arsenal could sign the midfield maestro and loan him back to Reading, or to Crystal Palace, if they had no immediate need for him.
