Ipswich Town assistant manager Stuart Taylor has hailed Tottenham Hotspur youngster Troy Parrott’s display last night in the Eastern Anglian Daily Times.
Parrott’s new Ipswich side were beaten 2-1 by Peterborough United, but the Spurs loanee still caused complications for Darren Ferguson’s side.
Parrott almost savaged a point when a deflected corner fell to him in the box late on, but Posh keeper Christy Pym made an outstanding stop to deny him.
And Taylor has suggested that the Tottenham prospect’s display deserved a goal, considering it was so promising.
“There are positives in the game,” Taylor insisted. “Disappointed we didn’t win the game, disappointed we didn’t get a point, which would have been a fair enough result, but I thought Troy (Parrott) did fantastic again and nearly got himself a goal at the end if it wasn’t for that great save.”
Tottenham fans will be encouraged to hear Parrott receiving such good reviews, after a difficult initial spell out on loan.
Spurs sent Parrott to Millwall for the first half of the campaign, but he found life tough in the Championship.
The teenager is still yet to open his scoring account for Ipswich, but he was fairly lively against Peterborough yesterday.
Parrott initially partnered James Norwood in a two, before leading the line on his own in the second half – and he worked hard, despite having few opportunities fall his way.
