Dharmesh Sheth has shared that Jermain Defoe told him that Everton’s new signing, Nathan Patterson, will go ‘all the way to the top’, as he told the Transfer Show on Sky Sports.
The Sky reporter added that Defoe, who was with him at Rangers, told him that ‘as soon as he saw him train’ then he knew straight away that he was ‘destined’ to be playing in England’s top-flight.
Sky Sports report that the Toffees could pay up to £16 million for Patterson’s talents, as he is Rafa Benitez’s second signing of the January transfer window.
Even though Patterson didn’t earn that much game time at Ibrox this season because he was behind James Tavernier in the pecking order, he might just come straight into this struggling Everton side, on either flank.
Nonetheless, after a Sky reporter spoke to Defoe about Patterson, this is what he was told about the Scotland fullback.
“I did speak to Jermain Defoe earlier on,” said Sheth. “I definitely called him about four times before he answered.
“But, in all seriousness, he is the player coach at Rangers. I asked him ‘what kind of player are Everton are getting?’
“I think Everton fans will be very, very pleased considering what Jermain Defoe said.
“He said that he ‘sees him every day in training. This kid is going all the way to the top’. And he knew, as soon as he saw him train that he was destined to be playing in the Premier League.”

Patterson has gone from a club sitting top of the tree in Scotland’s top-flight to another fighting for their lives near the bottom in the Premier League.
Whilst Everton don’t have to worry about getting relegated, things aren’t exactly rosy in the garden, especially with Benitez in charge.
After a strong start to the season, it is all going wrong once again and the pressure is mounting on their summer-appointed manager.
Whilst Patterson won’t be the only name through the door this month, or so it seems that way, players like him will be expected to lift the mood around the place.
