Rangers should be considering a move for George Byers.

Rangers are set for another huge summer, as they are expected to undergo another huge rebuild with Steven Gerrard at the helm.
Gerrard will lead yet another summer of upheaval at Ibrox, and whilst Allan McGregor and Scott Arfield are both expected to arrive on free transfers once their contracts with Hull City and Burnley expire, more additions will be needed.
Rangers have often exploited a contractual loophole to land out of contract players in England for bargain compensation despite being under 23, with Jordan Rossiter, Josh Windass and Joe Dodoo just three examples.
If Rangers look to that idea once again this summer, then one option that stands out is Swansea City midfielder George Byers, whose deal at the Liberty Stadium will come to an end this summer.

Byers, 21, joined Swansea on a two-year deal from Watford in 2016, and has impressed in the Swans’ under-23 side this season, providing creativity from midfield and superb dead ball ability.
The London-born midfielder will be considering his options given his lack of first-team opportunities, and The Sun (21/4, p63) recently reported that whilst Swansea are fighting to keep him, Byers wants first-team football and could leave over his contract uncertainty.
Rangers should be looking to pounce, not only because Byers would give the club a talented young midfielder to develop over the coming years at a bargain price, but also because he is completely Rangers-mad, with his entire Twitter account decked out in Rangers colours and photos.
That has made him very popular with Rangers fans, some of whom have taken to Twitter to voice that they want to see Byers head to Ibrox this summer – and for compensation which wouldn’t break the £200,000 barrier, Rangers would be foolish to ignore such an opportunity.
