Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Raul Jimenez has been superb at club level this season but he is also impressing at international level, as shown by his latest display for Mexico.

On Friday, El Tri – boasting new manager Gerardo Martino – took on Chile in a friendly at the SDCCU Stadium in San Diego, California, and the Wolves on-loan star opened the scoring for the Central American nation.

The breakthrough did not come until the 52nd minute but Jimenez successfully converted a penalty for his country, before a quick-fire brace from Hirving Lozano 12 minutes later put Mexico in cruise control.

Chile were able to find a consolation thanks to Nicolas Castillo’s goal 20 minutes from time but the victory belonged to Jimenez and his teammates, who gave their new coach a perfect debut.

Jimenez has made 35 appearances in all competitions for Wolves this season, scoring 15 goals and registering seven assists, according to Transfermarkt.

The Mexican star has been instrumental in helping Nuno Espirito’s side to seventh in the Premier League table and the semi-finals of the FA Cup.
