The Wolverhampton Wanderers ace is currently away from Molineux on international duty for the reigning European champions.

Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Joao Moutinho may be doing well at club level but his latest Portugal display saw him come under yet more scrutiny by a number of the national team’s fans on Twitter

The Wolves man was named in the starting XI by Fernando Santos for the Euro 2020 qualifier in Kiev but things did not go well for the European champions as they found themselves trailing by two goals by the half-hour mark.

Although Cristiano Ronaldo pulled a goal back for his nation – picking up his 700th career goal in the process – and Ukraine finished with ten men, Portugal ultimately fell just short on the night, the result seeing the Euro 2012 co-hosts reach next summer’s finals.

Here is some of the Twitter reaction regarding the team’s display, with the Molineux ace copping some flak:

Ukraine are top of Group B on 19 points from seven games, eight more than second-placed Portugal, who have a game in hand and wrap up their campaign with games against the group’s bottom two sides, Lithuania and Luxembourg.

Wolves are back in Premier League action this Saturday as Southampton come to Molineux.
