Cole, who scored 55 goals in 256 games for the Hammers over two spells, is something of a cult hero at the club despite dividing opinion with his performances on the pitch.
He was released at the end of the 2014/15 season and has since had unsuccessful spells at Celtic and Sacramento Republic where he made a total of just eight appearances.
The former Chelsea striker enjoyed his best top flight season in a Hammers shirt in 2008/9 when he scored 12 goals.
And according to The Sun, the man who was once nicknamed ‘Can’t Control’ by Hammers fans, is set to sign for non-league side Billericay Town at the age of 33.
Cole could join up with former Hammers teammate and supporter Paul Konchesky at the club which has also recruited former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Jamie O’Hara.
