Rangers prospects have been in the limelight recently.

Glenn Middleton scored in Rangers’ 4-3 defeat by Spartak Moscow in midweek, while 18-year-old striker Dapo Mebude travelled to Russia for the Europa League clash.

There are a number of very promising players in the Gers’ ranks – and Zak Rudden is certainly one of them.

In fact, the 18-year-old marksman was named as Top Class Recruitment Player of the Month for October.

Rudden, on loan from Rangers at Falkirk, scored a 25-yard stunner in Saturday’s 1-0 win away Dunfermline, which was only the Championship club’s second win of the season.

Here is how some fans on Twitter reacted to his heroics:

Rudden was one of a number of youth players who Rangers boss Steven Gerrard took to Spain for the warm weather camp during pre-season, with Middleton also involved.

After scoring in a 6-0 demolition of Bury at Ibrox later that summer, Gerrard said: “I’m delighted for all of the lads but especially Zak Rudden. It was his first goal here at Ibrox and I’m sure it’s going to be the first of many.”

It’s clear that Gerrard rates the young hitman and it’ll be interesting to see if he can force his way into contention under the 38-year-old next summer.

It’ll be tough, but if you’re good enough then you’re old enough, as the old adage goes, and the Liverpool icon has demonstrated this season that he isn’t afraid to play young players.
