The 29-year-old is reportedly a target of Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers, but he struggled against their Old Firm enemies.

Rangers fans on Twitter are slating one of their reported targets.

According to The Express, Rangers boss Steven Gerrard is ‘closing in’ on a pre-contract deal to sign Greg Stewart, who is on loan at Aberdeen.

The 29-year-old attacker had the chance to make a good first impression to the Gers’ faithful by knocking Celtic out of a Scottish Cup semi-final, but it didn’t turn out that way.

The Hoops romped to an easy 3-0 victory over the Dons at Hampden Park and suffice to say that Stewart – owned by Birmingham City – didn’t do much to stand out from the crowd.

Here’s how Rangers fans reacted to his performance, which came to an end after 70 minutes:

It really hasn’t been a successful few months for the Scot at Pittodrie, having scored just the once in 16 outings under Derek McInnes now.

The reported Rangers target netted eight in 16 Premiership appearances at Kilmarnock during the first half of the season, but he is really struggling to rediscover his best form at the moment and, on the evidence of Sunday, he wouldn’t get anywhere near Gerrard’s squad, let alone first XI.
