West Ham United boss Manuel Pellegrini made headlines for some rather outlandish comments about Jack Wilshere on Monday.
The Chilean manager said to The Mirror that the fit-again midfielder is a £100 million talent for West Ham.
Wilshere, who has missed the last three months with an ankle injury, set up the Hammers’ third goal in their 3-0 win at Newcastle on Saturday.
It was his first game since August following surgery and Pellegrini might have lost the run of himself a little when it comes to valuing the 26-year-old, who joined the Irons for free after Arsenal refused to extend his contract in North London.
Here is how neutral fans reacted to his £100 million comments.
A fit and firing Wilshere is certainly a big asset to West Ham, but is he really worth a nine-figure sum? Of course not, otherwise the Gunners would not have let him go.
Sad thing is, with his injury history Wilshere will never be worth mega money. There will always be question marks over his capacity to stay fit throughout an entire campaign.
