Liverpool’s Jordon Ibe has made the step up to England’s under-21 side.
Jordon Ibe is a player with big shoes to fill at Liverpool this season, with fans eyeing him as a potential replacement for Raheem Sterling.
Eye-catching displays since he made his debut have though been mixed in with less impactful ones, as should be expected from a young player adjusting to the demands of performing consistently at the highest level.
His potential has been recognised at international level, with Gareth Southgate utilising him in the under-21 squad for the first time this week.
He made his competitive debut for the club in the 1-0 win away to Norway yesterday, which saw Southampton’s James Ward-Prowse score the winner.
Ibe was joined by Liverpool teammate Joe Gomez, making his first competitive appearance, with the defender playing his part in recording a clean sheet.
20-year-old winger Ibe was a lively figure, although unable to convert his possession into goals, but will have taken the positives from his contribution to his side’s victory, as he prepares for a potential role in the big game away to Manchester United on Saturday.
