Leeds United starlet Jamie Shackleton made his debut for England’s under-20s on Tuesday.
A number of fans have taken to Twitter to comment on Jamie Shackleton’s performance after the Leeds youngster made his debut for England’s under-20s in their latest Toulon Tournament clash.
The Three Lions appear to be heading for a group-stage exit after they suffered their second defeat in two games on Tuesday, with Portugal winning 3-2. For the second game in a row, England took the lead before going behind, and now need to beat Chile in their final tie and hope that Japan do them a favour to stand a chance of going through.
Whites starlet Shackleton got the chance to start the game at right-back after being an unused substitute in the opening fixture against Japan. He went on to play 75 minutes before being substituted.
And it appears that some fans on social media believe that taking Shackleton off was a mistake as several lauded his performance during and after the game.
Shackleton appears to be on the cusp of being a revelation for Marcelo Bielsa’s men after impressing whenever he got a chance for Leeds this past season. And he appears to have replicated that form with the national team.
And while most of those who were commenting on the 19-year-old’s display were Leeds supporters, there were also a couple of fans from other clubs, including Arsenal, who felt that Shackleton deserved praise for his performance.
