Cameron Carter-Vickers made his return from injury yesterday for USA in the under-20 World Cup.
The young defender missed the final few weeks of Tottenham’s season and the opening matches of the tournament in Japan.
Upon his return to USA’s starting line up, Carter-Vickers helped USA keep a clean sheet in a 1-0 victory over Senegal.

The 19-year-old performed well, helping shore up a backline which was breached three times in their opening 3-3 draw against Ecuador which he missed.
Carter-Vickers is on the cusp of Tottenham’s first team, featuring in cup competitions this past season.
The young defender could be a first team player more regularly next year with Mauricio Pochettino shifting to a three man defence, and it is important he shows his value this summer with his under-20 performances.

Carter-Vickers needs a big pre-season to make an impression for Spurs, and will be rested despite playing in Japan, having barely featured this past campaign.
USA’s win left them close to qualifying for the knockout stages, with four points from a possible six, and Carter-Vickers could potentially come up against Spurs teammates Josh Onomah and Kyle Walker-Peters with England in later rounds.
