Sunderland goalkeeper Costel Pantilimon is becoming something of a scourge to the Premier League’s biggest clubs.
Just a week after keeping league leaders Chelsea at bay the Romanian stopper ensured the Black Cats again kept a clean-sheet, this time against a Liverpool side searching for their third straight win.
Pantilimon’s move from Manchester City to Sunderland was a questioned when he began the season on the bench, as backup Vito Mannone. But the 27-year-old has started the last six matches and has helped Gus Poyet’s side to some vital points in that time.
Clean-sheets against Leicester City, Chelsea and now Liverpool mean it is up to Sunderland’s forwards to do their job at the opposite end of the field and turn hard-fought draws into priceless wins.
