Arsenal youngster Gedion Zelalem returned for the club’s under-21 side.

It seems like an eternity ago that Gedion Zelalem was being billed as Arsenal’s next superstar.
The midfield talent was tipped as the next Cesc Fabregas and his incisive passing on a pre-season tour suggested he had the talent to live up to expectations.
There was never any question over Zelalem’s technique, instead what appeared to let him down was his lightweight frame which has seen managers reluctant to use him at first team level.
Yesterday the youngster made his comeback for Arsenal in an academy tie.
Zelalem has been out since 2017 after suffering a serious knee injury in action for the USA’s under-20 side.
It is now 18 months since his injury and it was a big step to see him in action against Forest Green for the under-21s in yesterday’s Checkatrade Trophy match.

Zelalem played for 45 minutes before being replaced and it was a challenging match up for him on his comeback.
He is now 21 and needs to start kicking on, but this game was all about getting through it.
Here is a look at how fans and reporters reacted to seeing him in action…
