Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly close to signing John Ruddy from Norwich City.

Wolverhampton Wanderers are close to signing John Ruddy from Norwich City on a free transfer, according to reports from Express and Star.

The 30-year-old goalkeeper will become Wolves’ seventh signing this summer after Ruben Neves and Willy Boly joined from Porto on Saturday.

Ruddy has been linked with a move to Sunderland, but he has chosen to move to the Molineux instead.

If the deal goes through, which is likely, he will become the second signing from Norwich this summer, after Ryan Bennett joined on a free transfer

Earlier this week, Wolves were rocked with the news of their number one goalkeeper, Carl Ikeme, being diagnosed with acute leukaemia.

However, Express and Star claims that Wolves, who have been in the market for goalkeepers all summer, are closing in on signing Ruddy.

The general perception of the Wolves fans, judging by the Twitter reaction, is that they are happy with the move.

Ruddy is an experienced goalkeeper who has made over 380 appearances in his career. Here are some of the tweets posted by the Wolves’ fan:
