It’s easy to feel sorry for Rangers gem Zak Rudden at the moment.

All the talk about Rangers signing Jermain Defoe has perhaps detracted from the 18-year-old’s goal on Saturday – maybe the biggest goal of his burgeoning career so far.

Rudden scored the winner for loan side Falkirk and, in turn, ended Ayr United’s 10-match unbeaten run in the Scottish Championship.

In addition to that, Rudden’s strike – his seventh of the season – took Ray McKinnon’s side off the foot of the table.

It was a big goal for the teenage star but one that perhaps went under the radar, what with the Gers signing a bonafide Premier League legend and all.

But a selection of Falkirk and Rangers fans did acknowledge Rudden’s goal on Twitter and here is their reaction to it.

Rudden was praised by Steven Gerrard after scoring his first goal at Ibrox in a pre-season friendly last summer, and it’ll be interesting to know if Gerrard is monitoring the star’s progress.

Defoe is for the now, but Rudden is definitely one for the future.
