Mignolet is currently acting as back-up to Liverpool’s Alisson.

Simon Mignolet was given the chance by Belgium manager Roberto Martinez to shine between the sticks for his country against the Netherlands in a friendly on Tuesday night – and he did just that according to some Belgium fans.
The 30-year-old has lost his place in the Liverpool side after Jurgen Klopp spent £66.7million to sign AS Roma’s Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson. It also saw Loris Karius leave the club on a two-year loan to Besiktas.
Former Sunderland goalkeeper Mignolet also acts as Thibaut Courtois’ understudy at international level, but he was given a chance to showcase his talent as Belgium hosted The Dutch.
Dries Mertens gave Belgium the lead in the first five minutes with an excellent goal that flew into the corner, before a well worked Holland counter attack saw them draw level through Club Brugge midfielder Arnaut Groeneveld.

Mignolet’s best moment came in the 79th minute when a corner was headed at goal by Nathan Ake with plenty of power, only for the Liverpool stopper to react instantly and push the ball over the bar.
The goalkeeper posted on Twitter after the match and plenty of Belgium fans reacted to his performance, with many happy to see him return to action for his country in what was his first appearance since March 2018 for Belgium.
