Offloaded by Villa in the summer, the Villa Park academy graduate played a huge role in his current side beating the B6 outfit last night.

Following their win over Aston Villa Under-21s in the EFL Trophy, some Tranmere fans have taken to Twitter to praise Corey Blackett-Taylor – who came from the Villa Park academy – for his display against the Premier League side.
The 22-year-old came through the ranks at Villa and was a regular for the Under-23s but only ever made two senior appearances for the claret and blue club – a substitute appearance against Huddersfield in the Championship and one in the League Cup against Middlesbrough for a total of 12 minutes’ action (Transfermarkt).
Blackett-Taylor had a short loan spell at Walsall earlier this year and, in the summer, left Villa Park to join the League One side, where he is currently featuring on a rotational basis and working his way to an established first-team position.
On Tuesday night, the Erdington-born winger played a big part in both of his side’s goals, first providing the cross for George Ray to rifle home on the turn for the equaliser, and then whipping in the corner which came off Connor Jennings’ back for the hosts’ winner.
Here is what some fans said about Blackett-Taylor’s display:
Whilst competing for Villa’s U18 side, Blackett-Taylor was a member of the team who won the Hong Kong Sevens in 2016 (Tranmere website).
