Rangers midfielder Steven Davis was applauded on Twitter by fans for his performance as Northern Ireland recorded a deserved 3-2 win against the Czech Republic in a friendly encounter.

Northern Ireland went 3-0 up inside 40 minutes in Prague, with Michael O’Neil’s side conceding both of their goals after Davis was substituted from the game after 65 minutes.

Midfielder Davis provided the assist for Northern Ireland’s third goal, as his lovely weighted through ball saw Paddy McNair run through on goal, round the goalkeeper and net his second of the game.

Throughout the match, Davis showcased calmness in the middle of the mark, as he ran the show in Prague, with it being no coincidence that his side conceded a goal minutes as he left the field.

Fans on Twitter were praising Davis for his display against the Czech’s, as he has taken his strong club form onto the international stage.

There were some supporters who praised Davis’ passing ability, whilst others just labelled him as a classy player, as he will now return to club football.

Steven Gerrard’s side are sitting top of the Scottish Premiership table, and if they are to maintain their place at the top of the standings then Davis needs to be at his best in the middle of the park.

His experience and calmness in midfield allows Rangers’ more attacking players to produce the goods in the final third, whilst he also protects his back four as best as possible.
