After his Ibrox disaster, a year makes a big difference for Umar Sadiq.

A year ago Umar Sadiq was languishing in Rangers’ development squad wondering when his chance at Ibrox would come.
A brief showing in a Scottish League Cup semi-final loss came soon after, and Steven Gerrard had seen enough.
Sadiq’s loan from Roma to Rangers was cancelled thereafter, and Rangers secured a big upgrade with Jermain Defoe.
Last night Sadiq had a big chance to show what he could do, as he started against Manchester United in the Europa League for Partizan Belgrade.
Sadiq came into the game in good form, and he gave a good account of himself.
The stat line of four shots and none on target did his performance a disservice.

One of these was a curling effort from outside the box which hit the box. He was so close to giving his side the lead. Minutes later United scored, and won 1-0.
Sadiq was aggressive and was a handful for United’s defence all night.
It was a big improvement on his brief showing for Rangers.
Unlike at Rangers, he has the trust of Partizan manager Savo Milosevic. It makes a difference. He will get another crack at United at Old Trafford in a fortnight.
Here is a look at how fans reacted to his performance…
