Manchester United have not yet renewed Juan Mata’s contract. Could West Ham possibly enter the race?

West Ham have regularly used the transfer market to sign big name players on cheap deals and this has not changed under Manuel Pellgrini.
A move for Sami Nasri earlier this season was predictable, following past free moves for Jack Wilshere, Patrice Evra and Pablo Zabaleta over the past few campaigns.
Will Juan Mata be next? Right now there is nothing linking Mata to West Ham, but some fans – of rival clubs – believe it will only be a matter of time.
Mata is out of contract at the end of the season at Manchester United. Sky Sports asked yesterday where he might end up.
A number of responses offered West Ham as a potential destination…
It’s evident West Ham have become a bit of a punchline in regard to signing high profile freebies.
However the joke could be on other teams if West Ham do sign Mata.
The 30-year-old still has plenty left in him, and scored a winning goal against Juventus in Turin earlier this season in the Champions League.
Mata to West Ham is certainly plausible, and he would be an astute addition for the Hammers too if they can pull it off.
