Quite a few fans on Twitter have criticised Erik Lamela for what he did during Tottenham Hotspur’s win over PSV Eindhoven last night.

Tottenham kept alive their hopes of reaching the knockout stage of the Champions League by scoring twice in the final 10 minutes to beat the Dutch side 2-1.

The Spurs winger raised eyebrows in the dying moments when television cameras appeared to catch him elbowing PSV ace Rosario in the chest in an off-the-ball incident.

And some neutral fans on Twitter have called on the Argentine to receive a retrospective ban from UEFA.

It remains to be seen why Lamela did, but the former Roma star does appear to be a fiery character at times and it seems plausible that it was retribution for an earlier incident, involving him and Rosario.

The 26-year-old has been an absolute revelation for the North Londoners this season, netting six goals in seven starts across all competitions.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side have two huge games in the form of Barcelona away and Inter Milan at Wembley to come in Group B, and Lamela might have jeopardised his inclusion in both if UEFA take a look at the elbow.
