Orlando City’s Dom Dwyer did not impress viewers with his performance throughout the opening game of the MLS Is Back Tournament.

After injury, the American international forward made his first appearance of the year in the 2-1 victory over expansion side Inter Miami.

Dwyer’s showing included numerous fouls on Miami players, audibly berating the referee, and causing the game’s most controversial moment.

Early in the second half, Dwyer’s elbow caught Miami’s Andres Reyes in the throat. This led to the defender experiencing breathing difficulties and leaving the field on a stretcher.

Dwyer looked visibly shaken and concerned during Reyes’ seven minutes of medical aid. However, it was an offense for which Dwyer was possibly fortunate not to see a card from the officials.

Dwyer was substituted after 63 minutes. At time time, Orlando were trailing to a goal from Miami’s Juan Agudelo. Shortly after Dwyer’s removal, Chris Mueller pulled the Lions level.

During added on time, Portuguese star Nani secured all three points for Orlando with a well taken finish.

However, many viewers took to Twitter to express their thoughts on Dwyer’s performance – with the 29-year-old far from impressing.
