Kris Boyd remains convinced Derek McInnes may yet end up at Rangers.

Former Rangers star Kris Boyd has refused to give up on the prospect of Derek McInnes taking over as manager at Ibrox.

McInnes snubbed Rangers last night, after an official approach was finally made for their former player.

Rangers since announced via their official club statement that Graeme Murty will remain in temporary charge until the end of the year.

Kris Boyd was a vocal advocate of McInnes joining Rangers, and admitted he was stunned that the manager would be stating at Aberdeen.

He told SkySports: “Derek has decided to stay at Aberdeen and that’s a surprise to everybody because the majority in Scotland thought he would have gone to Rangers, myself included.

“But is it dead? we just don’t know.”

Just hours before the statement Boyd had insisted that McInnes would be heading to Ibrox.

Unfortunately for Boyd, his comments throughout the past week have served to make him a bit of a laughing stock among fans of rival clubs.
