Donald Trump spoke positively about Harry Kane ahead of the FIFA World Cup semi-final, and fans believe this jinxed England’s chances to reach the final.
Despite holding a 1-0 lead late into the game, England capitulated under the pressure of a dominant Argentina side, losing 2-1 and missing out on the FIFA World Cup final yet again.
Harry Kane did not have a good performance, putting in an uncharacteristically quiet shift. And fans believe it has a lot to do with Donald Trump’s recent comments about him.

Fans believe Donald Trump curse struck again after Harry Kane praise
After the England vs. Mexico Round of 16 tie, Donald Trump revealed that he had played golf with Harry Kane, whom he called a ‘great player’ and praised profusely.
Since these comments, Kane has struggled to deliver at the level he was earlier in the tournament, failing to register any goal contributions in their games against Norway and Argentina.
In the aftermath of England’s loss to Argentina, several fans poked fun at the comments from Trump about the captain indirectly leading to his struggles.
One fan reminded everyone, noting, “Kane zero goals + assists since the Trump endorsement.”
Another fan joked, “I knew England was cursed somehow… I just couldn’t put my finger on it.”
“I guess Harry Kane has more time to golf with Trump now,” remarked a third fan who referenced the two playing together.
A fourth fan wished for this alleged hex to be passed on to Argentina, writing, “Someone get him to say something nice about Messi, please.”
And one final admitted that Trump’s comments were the end of England’s hopes, saying, “Yeah, the writing was pretty much on the wall at that point.”
Donald Trump will hand FIFA World Cup to either Argentina or Spain
With England now out of the FIFA World Cup, President Trump will not have the opportunity to hand the trophy to his former golf buddy.
Trump is set to present the FIFA World Cup to the winners at the MetLife Stadium this Sunday, as he did at the FIFA Club World Cup last year when Chelsea won.
There has been a lot of controversy surrounding FIFA’s decision to let Trump present the award over FIFA President Gianni Infantino, seeing it as an instance of the President influencing decisions in his favour.
Regardless of who presents the award, both Argentina and Spain will be focused on getting their hands on the trophy for a fourth and second time in their respective histories.
