The BT Sport commentator and one-time England World Cup hero has been immortalised in t-shirt form by one fan in arguably the strangest tribute ever.

From scoring memorable goals for the likes of England, Liverpool and Manchester United to a second career as a questionable commentator on BT Sport, Michael Owen really is the gift that keeps on giving to football fans.

And the good news is that you too can now own a part of Owen history – or is it infamy? – courtesy of a custom-made t-shirt featuring one of the Three Lions icon’s most Alan Partridge-esque tweets.

Owen has made a habit of sounding all too much like the Steve Coogan comedy creation during his various forays into the world of social media.

So after what must surely have been one too many, Twitter user @joeldownings decided to have one of Owen’s many Partridge-isms immortalised in t-shirt form.

Waking the next day, possibly the worse for wear, he soon discovered evidence of the newly-purchased garment and decided to share it on Twitter.

Featuring the immortal tweet: “Just ran over a rabbit. Devastated.” the new t-shirt could prompt plenty in the way of copycats in the coming weeks.

With so many tweets to choose from, this is one craze that could run and run.

And that’s before we even get to his commentary gaffes on BT Sport…
