The leading pundit thinks Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino remains favourite to join Old Trafford from the Tottenham Hotspur Arena.

A number of fans – Tottenham Hotspur and neutrals alike – have criticised Stan Collymore on Twitter for his latest column for The Mirror in which he gave his thoughts on the futures of Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino and Red Devils counterpart Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Collymore’s column goes in depth regarding the Old Trafford club’s current issues and whether Solskjaer could face the axe soon following a slow start which has included a lacklustre penalty shootout win over Rochdale in the League Cup and a 2-0 loss to West Ham United last week.
The former Liverpool ace is “adamant” that the Norwegian will remain at the club until the end of the season at least, with Ed Woodward being seemingly “well aware that the club is a work in progress” and that wielding the axe now “really wouldn’t reflect well on him” as he’d seem like “the idiot who can’t get the right person in”.
When it comes to the latter stages of the season, however, that’s when Collymore believes there could potentially be some movement, and in his column, he wrote: “I know Spurs fans don’t like me saying this and I don’t like to because I have a soft spot for Tottenham. But Poch remains the most obvious candidate.
“I wonder if all these smoke signals he’s sending out – the messages that he’s feeling down, feeling flat – are essentially him saying to United: ‘Give me a shout, let’s talk, line up the move for the summer and in the meantime I will make sure I get Tottenham in the top four again’. Then we might see Solskjaer ousted at the end of the campaign. But, barring a complete disaster, it won’t be before then.”
Collymore received some criticism by several Spurs fans, who have had to deal with countless articles linking their players and staff with other clubs for years, and by neutrals who believe Pochettino would be more likely to go to a club not currently in transition like Man United are.
