Liverpool forward Liam Millar came off the bench to score the winner for Kilmarnock last night.
Millar signed on loan for Killie in January to try and take the next step in his career.
He has largely had to settle for a substitute’s role. That could be about to change.
Millar got on the end of a cross to convert a late winning goal for Kilmarnock away to St Mirren, giving Steve Clarke’s side a 1-0 win.
Millar is already a Canada international, and has shone at youth level for Liverpool.
Competition for the Reds is intense, and not just in the first team.
Liverpool youngsters Paul Glatzel and Bobby Duncan have scored 51 goals combined for the academy this season and are stating their cases to get chances, along with England under-17 World Cup winner Rhian Brewster.
It was one of the reasons that a loan made sense for Millar, so he could stand out, by making an impression at first team level.
This goal could be the start for him, and starting opportunities in the weeks to come could give the 19-year-old a better chance to show what he can do.
