Darren Bent has claimed that rumoured Newcastle and Tottenham target, Dean Henderson, has ‘fallen behind’ the likes of Aaron Ramsdale for England, as he told talkSPORT.
The 24-year-old is yet to play a single minute of Premier League football this season for Manchester United and it doesn’t seem as though that will change any time soon.
Despite those lack of minutes, Henderson is still admired by a number of Premier League clubs, including Spurs and Newcastle, as reported by Eurosport and The Manchester Evening News.
There’s no doubt that a player of Henderson’s calibre shouldn’t be warming Manchester United’s bench.
But with the 2022 World Cup in Qatar around the corner, Henderson has to get those minutes under his belt, as soon as possible, to prove his worth to Gareth Southgate once more and get his name up in lights.
And Bent thinks, at this moment in time, he ‘won’t make the squad’, with three men already ahead of him.
“He has fallen down the pecking order,” said Bent. “Behind Ramsdale, Pickford and Sam Johnstone.
“He won’t make the squad (for the 2022 World Cup). It’s simple as that.
“I would love for these guys to go out and play football. But it must be hard to leave a club like Manchester United. You are talking about one of the biggest and best clubs in the world.
“I don’t care how it is run or who is in charge of it, it must still be difficult to drop from that level to go and get game time.”

Henderson previously had two loan spells at Sheffield United, one to help them earn promotion and the other to help them maintain their Premier League status.
Ironically enough, it was Ramsdale, who is now Arsenal’s number one, that replaced him at the Yorkshire club before their relegation.
Back then, both on the domestic and international stage, Henderson was ahead of Ramsdale.
But, fast forward to today, and that has well and truly changed, with a lack of minutes, for Henderson, being a huge reason behind it.
