Brighton fans have backed their club possibly selling Dan Burn to Newcastle United before Monday’s deadline.

With Burn turning 30 in a few months and with 18-months left on his contract, there are sections of Brighton supporters who aren’t fussed with the central defender leaving.

The Daily Mail report that Newcastle will return with a second offer for Burn after their Premier League rivals rejected £8 million for the hard-hitting player.

The Magpies have added Kieran Trippier and Chris Wood to their squad this month, but that all-important centre-back is needed.

A player of Burn’s ilk, versatility and experience would be an improvement on what Eddie Howe is already working with in the North East.

Whilst other defenders the club have targeted have hit stumbling blocks, this is a deal that might just happen.

From a financial perspective, Brighton, who purchased Burn for £4 million, would be making a profit on the player.

Then there is the fact that he doesn’t have much time left on his contract, added with his age, so take the money and invest it into a younger player.

But, the most important game-changer of all, could be the fact that Burn is a boyhood Newcastle fan and he was at the club as a young kid.

Therefore, it wouldn’t be a surprise if Burn is donning the Newcastle colours by Monday’s deadline, unless the Seagulls become difficult during the negotiations.

Here is a selection of Brighton fans reacting to rumours that Newcastle want to sign Burn:
