Crystal Palace are now interested in bringing Sochaux wonderkid Skelly Alvero to the Premier League this summer.
What’s the story?
Well, the south Londoners have focused on recruiting young talent in recent years, such as Michael Olise, Eberechi Eze and Marc Guehi.
Now – according to Fabrizio Romano – Crystal Palace have set their sights on another prospect in Alvero.
It is said that the Eagles are keen to bring the 20-year-old to Selhurst Park as they aim to improve their midfield department, which is still lacking in quality following the departure of Conor Gallagher.
Albert Sambi Lokonga was signed on loan from Arsenal back in January to ease the problem, although those in the boardroom at Crystal Palace are clearly aware that a permanent solution is required.
Romano adds that Crystal Palace face competition from Borussia Monchengladbach for Alvero.
The reliable Italian journalist adds that the Frenchman is likely to cost around £4m this summer.
So far this season, Alvero has made 24 appearances in all competition for Sochaux, which speaks volumes given the fact he is just 20 years of age.
Crystal Palace could land a bargain in Skelly Alvero
If Crystal Palace can strike a deal with Sochaux for a sum in the region of £4m, it would represent excellent business.
We won’t claim to know a huge amount about Alvero, but based on the talents Sochaux have produced in the past, there is certainly reason for Crystal Palace fans to be excited about this news.
The French side developed £36m Liverpool colossus Ibrahima Konate, while also bringing another France international through their ranks in Marcus Thuram.

Cedric Bakambu – who Beijing Guoan once spent £65m on – also rose through their academy.
Therefore, a £4m deal for Alvero could prove to be a very wise investment from the south Londoners.
