Tottenham Hotspur are on the lookout for a new manager after parting company with Antonio Conte.

The Italian left Spurs by mutual consent last week, in wake of his explosive post-Southampton press conference.

Plenty of coaches have been linked with the Tottenham reins, including Mauricio Pochettino and Julian Nagelsmann.

Another name that has been doing the rounds is that of Luis Enrique, who previously managed Barcelona and Spain.

Over the past few days, speculation linking him to Spurs has started increasing once again.

This was after Enrique himself said he fancied trying his luck in the Premier League at some point.

Speaking to Cadena SER, the 52-year-old said: “I would like to try an experience in Premier League, but I’d only accept an interesting project.

“I’d only join a club where I can do big, important things. I’ve received proposals from national teams. I keep all options open.”

Earlier in March, Italian journalist Tony Damascelli suggested that Spurs have already made contact with Enrique.

He told CMW: “I know that Luis Enrique has already been contacted, there is a good possibility that he will go to England.”

Now, Fabrizio Romano has provided another exciting update on Enrique’s stance towards a new job, amid the Spurs links.

Writing on CaughtOffside, the transfer insider said: “Luis Enrique is open to joining English clubs.

“But it depends on the project, he wants something long-term and not just short-term.

“He wants to return as soon as possible.”

Although Enrique already said he wants an interesting project, Romano added that the coach is eager for a swift return to management.

With only the Spurs job currently vacant in the Premier League, it’s nice to hear him talk up the prospect of managing in England.

Better still, he seems keen on a long-term project, which Tottenham certainly is.

We’ll see what happens on this front, but Enrique is definitely a great manager who could hopefully turn Spurs’ fortunes around.
