Speaking on the Here We Go Podcast, Fabrizio Romano has delivered an update on how Erik Lamela feels about his future at Tottenham.
There’s been plenty of speculation about Lamela leaving Spurs in recent weeks, but the Italian journalist claims that the winger is completely focused on playing for Spurs and he wants to stay.
The journalist outlined Lamela’s view on his current situation.
“He wants to stay, he wants to focus on Tottenham, so first of all congrats to Lamela for his goal, but he wants to stay. There are a lot of rumours, but he’s always focused on Tottenham, his main idea is to stay and to fight for his place, to be a starter at Tottenham. At the moment he is not planning on leaving the club,” Romano said.

This is great to hear if you’re a Spurs fan.
The Argentine may not be the first name on the team sheet for Jose Mourinho’s side, but it seems as though he’s ready to work hard to cement his place as a starter.
Lamela has blown hot and cold ever since he’s joined Spurs, but one thing you’ve never been able to question about him is his mentality and drive.
The north London derby at the weekend was the perfect example of what Lamela is all about, scoring a sublime goal before being sent off.
Tottenham may well shift a few players this summer, but one man who looks set to stay is Lamela.
