Liverpool, Leeds and Newcastle have missed out on teen sensation Kylan Midwood to Pep Guardiola and Manchester City.

What’s the story?

Well, the above is according to Fabrizio Romano, who believes the Citizens have beaten Jürgen Klopp, Jesse Marsch and Eddie Howe to the Under-15 wonderkid’s signature.

Midwood has been making a name for himself at Sheffield United, where he has lit up the youth ranks, earning a move to the Etihad Stadium as a result of his superb efforts.

You can see what the reliable Romano posted on Twitter in full below.

As you can see, Chelsea also lost out to Manchester City in the race to sign Midwood.

The move sees Guardiola continue his recruitment of potential superstars, as he aims to leave a sustainable legacy behind when he eventually departs the Etihad Stadium.

Last summer, the Citizens moved to sign Brazilian wonderkid Kayky from Fluminense, who looks set to have a very bright future in Manchester.

Midwood should have considered Liverpool, Leeds or Newcastle over Manchester City

In our view, Anfield, Elland Road at St James’ Park are better destinations for young talent than the Etihad Stadium.

On Merseyside, Klopp actually gives regular game time to youngsters such as Fabio Carvalho and Harvey Elliott, while he has also recently been using 17-year-old Ben Doak in the first-team.

At Leeds, Marsch relies on many young gems such as Crysencio Summerville, Joe Gelhardt, Sam Greenwood and Willy Gnonto, while Howe has brought Elliot Anderson through.

Guardiola rarely uses Manchester City’s young stars on a regular basis, aside from the odd cup appearance, so hopefully, Midwood is not overlooked in favour of expensive signings in future.

The likes of Jack Rodwell and Patrick Roberts saw their careers fizzle out after joining the Citizens, and we hope Midwood does not suffer the same fate.
