According to Fabrizio Romano, Wolves have already made contact with the man they’d like to replace Nuno Espirito Santo – Bruno Lage.

The reliable Italian journalist tweeted that Wolves have contacted the Portuguese coach, and talks are ongoing.

Romano adds that Sergio Conçeiçao is also on the list of three options – the third manager is not named.

However, Lage is the favourite for Wolves.

The 45-year-old has been out of work since he left Benfica in June 2020.

At the Estádio da Luz, Lage won the Liga NOS title, and also got his hands on the Portuguese Super Cup.

The Setúbal-born manager has overseen 89 games throughout his managerial career, impressively winning 59.

He has a fine points-per-game average of 2.16.

Lage has also watched his side score an eye-catching 196 goals in those 89 games, while conceding just 83.

That is very encouraging for the Molineux faithful to hear.

Nuno achieved great things in the Midlands, and will be sorely missed.

His departure earlier today came as a real shock to the football world.

However, if Fosun appoint Lage as his replacement, there is plenty to be excited about given the 45-year-old’s fine track record.

Keep an eye on this situation, as Wolves will presumably want to find Nuno’s replacement quickly with the transfer window on the horizon.
