Fabrizio Romano claims Aston Villa now have ‘full agreement’ with Rangers over a move to sign teenage sensation Rory Wilson – in a deal that could reach £1million. Still only 16, Wilson is highly-regarded.
Clearly, Steven Gerrard’s move to Villa has not seen his memory of Wilson diminish. Already an 11-time Scotland Under-17 international, in which Wilson has scored seven goals, the striker is ahead of the curve.
Wilson has also featured four times in the UEFA Youth League for the Under-19 Rangers side. A full first-team debut might have been on the horizon for Wilson under Giovanni van Bronckhorst in the coming year or two.
However, Villa have moved swiftly in order to strike a deal for the Rangers talent. Romano confirms on Twitter that there is now a ‘full agreement’ between both parties – and a deal could reach as much as £1million.
Romano: Villa deal for Rangers sensation Wilson could reach £1m
Highly-sought after, Wilson even had interest from Liverpool earlier this window but the lure of Gerrard has clearly paid off. He will now be vying for a place in the Under-23 side, with a view to breaking into the first team.
A move to Villa has been on the cards for the past week or two, with Wilson himself reposting a recent update from Romano on the situation – to his Instagram story. So, what does Wilson have ahead of him in terms of competition?
Well, Villa have Danny Ings and Ollie Watkins. Keinan Davis has returned from a loan at Forest, while Cameron Archer is showing plenty of promise. Wilson needs to establish himself in the 23’s and go from there.
