Manchester City reportedly have first refusal to sign Ferran Torres should FC Barcelona decide to sell the 21-year-old attacker in the future.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the reigning Premier League champions have the option to match any bid made for the youngster. Torres joined Barcelona earlier this month in a deal worth a reported £50m as per the Athletic.
The Italian journalist posted: “Just been told an interesting, new detail: Manchester City have included the “right of first refusal” in the agreement with Barcelona for Torres.
“Man City will have the chance to match potential future bids for Ferran. Final decision always up to the player.”
Such an option in transfers is commonplace amongst major clubs. Sporting Lisbon famously had one for Cristiano Ronaldo during his first spell with Manchester United, where the Portuguese club were offered to match Real Madrid’s world-record bid for the attacker.
And City one including a clause in Torres’ move to Barcelona is good business practice for the Manchester side, with the winger likely to develop with the Catalan giants under the leadership of Xavi Hernandez.
New clause could see Torres return to City from Barcelona

At just 21, Torres is only just getting started in his football career, and this clause with Barcelona could one day see the Spanish international return to City in the future.
After all, the attacker flourished in his 18 months with the club, and after a few years of development at Barcelona, Torres could be a player targeted by City to return to the club as a better and more mature attacker.
