Reported Rangers target Nicolas Raskin has now been dropped from Standard Liege’s first-team after talks over a new contract collapsed, with the midfielder expected to leave next month.
Fabrizio Romano took to Twitter as the Italian journalist confirmed that the 21-year-old Belgian talent had been sent to the reserves following a collapse in contract talks with Standard Liege, with the expectation now being that Raskin will be on the move in January
DHNet have previously reported that Rangers are one of the clubs interested in signing Raskin, and with the midfielder now training with the reserves, a transfer could be arranged soon if the Scottish giants move quickly enough to beat rival clubs.
As per Romano, French, Italian and German teams are all chasing Raskin ahead of the January window, and for Rangers landing the playmaker would be a major coup for Michael Beale in his first transfer period in charge of the Glasgow side.
Indeed, Raskin is regarded by many as one of the best talents in the Belgian Pro League, and Rangers could make quite the statement if they sign the midfielder following this latest update that Standard Liege have now relegated the 21-year-old to train with the kids.
Rangers have to ensure they land Standard Liege outcast Raskin

Raskin’s time with Standard Liege is coming to a messy end that could have been avoided had the club handled the situation better. Yet for Rangers, the opportunity has never been better for the Gers to sign Raskin ahead of the January window.
After all, the Scottish Premiership side have the reputation and the finances to pull off a deal in the coming weeks, and for Raskin himself, a move to Rangers could be an enticing one for the youngster and a step in the right direction for the youngster.
