Speaking on the Here We Go Podcast, Fabrizio Romano has shared an update on how Fabio Paratici feels about Atalanta centre-back Cristian Romero.

It’s no secret that Spurs are keen on signing Romero this summer, with the Argentine reportedly already agreeing personal terms with the London club.

Romano says that Paratici believes Romero would be perfect for English football and that his leadership abilities and potential would make him a great signing.

What’s been said?

Romano shared how Spurs’ Sporting Director feels about his centre-back target.

“Romero is the plan A, the plan B and the plan C as well because they love the player. The special link is with Fabio Paratici. He signed him from Genoa here in Italy when he was in Juventus, and now he wants him back at Tottenham because he considers Romero perfect for English football, for Premier League football, also with his leadership and he’s a player for the future too. So they are really convinced about Romero,” Romano said.

Perfect for English football

Paratici may believe that Romero is perfect for English football, but is he?

Well, he’s just won the Serie A Defender of the Year award, beating out the likes of Giorgio Chiellini and Leonardo Bonucci to the award, and based on how those two dominated the England attack in the Euro 2020 final, it has to be said that Romero may be well-suited to life in the Premier League.

Romero would certainly be a brilliant replacement for Toby Alderweireld, and if Paratici can get this one over the line Spurs will have a brilliant player on their hands.
