Speaking on his YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano has been discussing Arsenal and the interest shown in Gabriel Magalhaes over the summer.
It was widely reported that Gabriel was wanted by Juventus in the summer transfer window, but now, Romano claims that the Brazilian was also courted by another club.
Unfortunately, Romano couldn’t name the other club in for the centre-back during the summer, but he did share that Gabriel was wanted by another so-called ‘mystery’ team.

Gabriel a wanted man
The journalist shared what he knows about the Arsenal ace.
“Let me reveal one thing to you. Gabriel Magalhaes who scored a really important goal against Chelsea, he’s always scoring from corners, what a centre-back. In the summer he was approached by two clubs, one was Juventus. Juventus really wanted Gabriel to replace Matthijs De Ligt, but also another club that I can’t reveal, but Arsenal were in the same position the whole summer: He’s untouchable,” Romano said.
Tied down
Gabriel was clearly eyed up by some top clubs this summer, but Arsenal made quick work of tying him down to a new contract in October.
Indeed, the Brazilian is now committed to Arsenal until 2027, and while more interest may be shown in the defender in the coming years, the Gunners won’t be under any pressure to sell for quite some time.
Realistically, Arsenal can rest easily with Gabriel in their backline for the next three years without having to worry about any other club swooping in – unless they receive an offer they can’t refuse in that time.
Interestingly, Gabriel has been highlighted as one of Arsenal’s lesser performers this season, but that is a testament of the entire squad’s ability rather than an indictment of Gabriel’s performances.
The South American has been brilliant, as have all of his teammates.
